I have a 2003 bmw 745I. Myself and a passenger were merging from one highway to another highway taking a slightly curved ramp going about 50-60 MPH. We were both wearing our seatbelts. A deer came out of nowhere and ran into / hit my driver side – right around the front wheel area. The front left side and front end were both smashed up pretty good. None of the side or front airbags deployed. There was roughly 14,000 worth of body and internal damage (under the hood) to car. about 6 months later I noticed the SRS warning light was coming on stating the passenger side restraint malfunction. I notified the insurance company. They said to take it to my nearest BMW dealer and if it was related to the accident it would be covered. The dealer came back with 2 diagnoses: 1.) SRS Sensor for side air bag, r&r 02/03 B-Pillar RH. the part description was listed as: SENSOR, B-PILLAR RIG Part # BM65-77-6-949-910 part cost $312.59 labor was $418.21 + misc and tax. 2.) SRS Sensor for Side Air Bag, r&r 02/03 Front Door RH. The part description is: SENSOR, FRONT RIGHT Part # BM65-77-6-970-907 part cost $312.59 labor was $418.21 +misc and tax.
Nationwide (of course) determined this wasn’t from the accident because it was the right side (passenger) and the deer hit the left front but also did a huge amount of internal damage below the hood. Based on the airbag problems listed above from January 22, 2015 it sounds like their may be a defect. I would really appreciate some advise / feedback.

    Thanks, Antonio in PA
